1. The Objective 
   To train graduates to be researchers who possess research capacity, honesty and integrity, a good mastery of basic medical sciences, a great learning ability, a keen awareness of innovation, a positive spirit of self-renewal and a competitive ability in the world.
 
2. Majors, Courses and Systems
    The School confers MS and PhD degrees in 14 disciplines of biochemistry and molecular biology, physiology, genetics, pathogenic biology, immunology, human anatomy and histoembryology, pathology and pathophysiology, forensic medicine, neurobiology, pharmacology, basic integration of TCM and western medicine, molecular medicine, biomedical engineering and medical informatics. Both MS and PhD candidates undergo three-year schooling, and those who move directly from MS to PhD program and those who continue to pursue a PhD degree from their outstanding completion of undergraduate studies experience five-year schooling. 
The graduate degree courses are composed of general courses, fundamental courses, and major-related compulsory and selective courses. The general ones are offered at the scale of Fudan University; the fundamental ones are set based on the five first-level disciplines of biology, basic medical sciences, basic integration of TCM and western medicine, biomedical engineering and pharmacology; the major-related ones are arranged according to the requirements of the second-level disciplines; and major-related selective ones are established in the direction of research. As the school policy, graduates are required to take some cross-discipline courses and at least one that crosses a first-level discipline.  
 
3. The Requirements for Graduation and Degree
    A diploma is conferred on those who have completed the required course credits, with a pass in a thesis defense. A degree is issued to those who have met the requirements as follows: 
MS candidates who have published at least one major-related paper as the first author with Fudan University as the first affiliation, in one of Type A journals of as indicated by Fudan University Degrees and the List of Authoritative and Core Journals in China. 
    Three-year schooling PhD candidates who have published at least one paper as the first author with Fudan University as the first affiliation, in one of SCI journals; five-year schooling PhD candidates who have published at least two papers or one high quality paper (evaluated and defined by the discipline-based panel) as the first author with Fudan University as the first affiliation in SCI journals, which are/is academically related with the dissertation.
 
4. Dissertations
    Since 2009, the school-based graduates have published 24 papers in the high impact international peer-reviewed journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, JCI and PNAS; four PhD candidates have been nominated for One Hundred Outstanding Doctoral Dissertations in China; nine PhD candidates have been municipally recognized for their outstanding doctoral dissertations; and three MS candidates been municipally recognized for their outstanding dissertations.
 
5Employment upon Graduation 
    From 2001 to 2013, the graduates from the School hold a high employment rate as indicated in Figure .
